Cycling
Incorporate exercise into your day by hoping on your bike to get to work, run errands or just for fun!
Join Jenn as she shows you how easy it is to get around Newmarket using the East-West cycling route!
The East-West cycling route connects to the separated and raised bike lanes on Yonge St. and the bike lanes that
run from Main St. along 2nd Concession all the way up through East Gwillimbury up to Holland Landing.
You will also find bike lanes along the east side of Bathurst St. and a multi-use path along Mulock Drive.
There are two bike repair stations located along the route should you need to tighten or tweak anything or just
put air in the tires! One is located at Haskett Park on Millard Ave. and the second is at Riverwalk Commons.

Spoke O’Motion
Why we love them!
Myles, the owner, has an obvious passion for all things cycling! “After graduating from University, I felt a pull
to return to that which I loved; to a job that would allow me to shape people's lives in a positive way; to a
job where I could have a profound impact on my community”. Well, he’s done just that! Carrying all different
kinds of bikes, Myles is the expert and will hook you up with the perfect ride! Spoke O’Motion has been involved
in our annual Bike to Work Day for the past 13 years and is our event sponsor!
Every year they offer a cool weekly mountain bike racing series for all ages! This local series
has run non-stop since the early 90s - making it one of the longest running cross country mountain bike events
in the country. With a focus on fun, family, and progression of skills and fitness, we have turned rookies into
passionate cyclists and veterans into champions.

Lock it or lose it!
Always lock your bike if you leave it unattended, even if it’s for a short amount of time. Remember thieves will
steal an entire bike but they will also steal items attached to the bike that are not securely fastened, e.g.
seat.
Watch this video on how not to suck at locking up your bike!
Register Your Bike!
Registering your bike with York Regional Police (YRP) will increase your chances of having it returned if it is
lost or stolen. It is also a good idea to take a photo of your bike and record the serial number. Click here to register with YRP
